Dear Families
It’s that time of the year we all go wild and welcome everyone to participate in the 60th Anniversary celebrations making us one of the oldest and proudest clubs in the East Fremantle district. Last year we warmed up with two Premiership teams and almost cracked taking off the Under 17’s Grand Final as well, so expect greater things to be coming this year.
For the new players starting off in Auskick, have we got a surprise for you with the new Auskick jumpers designed on the 1952 original green with gold sash to play in with the “Hawks” logo proudly displayed on the chest. This is a first for the clubs history which will enhance our little legends on the field.
Let’s not forget the parents coming into our club, I ask only one thing for the year, enjoy your time with the kids and join in to assist other parents having fun as it only adds to the clubs spirit of being a friendly family club. If you’re not sure what to do, or better still would like to help us out, David Hughes our Auskick Coordinator is back in the chair whilst on Tuesday nights I will be down probably on the BBQ or walking around introducing myself.
As we step through the ranks the “Super 8’s” this year will see a more regular fixture of playing other teams in the district on a round robin basis which will help them progress into the Under 9’s team or Junior league.
The real excitement in the club is that all the junior teams will be sporting a new designed jumper based on the green and gold which the foundations of the club were built on. This design incorporates the gold sash like the Auskick players have but a bold striking gold “Hawks” head on the front of the jumpers.
Finally our club will have a one design logo for all teams which will also see this proudly displayed on the clubhouse, scoreboard, Flags, merchandise and web page.
Another new exciting venture is the training shirts are being brought back to life across the club with the Melville Junior Football Logo on the front and a couple of lucky sponsors on the back. If you are part of the Hawks family and keen to contribute to the cause, please contact Cassandra Brennan or myself for further information.
Whilst on the topic of sponsorship, I would also like to thank all the past sponsors that have help us in the 2011 season and would like to see if we can expand on this success for a very special year.
It is clear that again Melville Junior Football Club will be having teams in each grade along with an additional team coming into the junior ranks if the expected numbers continue to grow as seen over the past few years.
Finally we always welcome new parents to the committee meetings which are held on a Tuesday night once a month which is a great way to see what is going on in the club and the direction forward. Please take time out to inform us what you would like moving forward so we can plan for all our kids’ futures.
Heading up the extremely rewarding social aspect of the Melville Hawks is the lovely Kim Raven (Social Coordinator) who is setting up a calendar to cater for events such as:
- Outdoor Movie Theatre on the Oval (Deck Chair Theatre)
- Night Football/Picnic for Auskick
- Sun-Downer at the club (Meet and Greet the teams)
- Gala Day (Celebrating the 60th, Family day event (Back to the old days)
- Kickathon (Fun Raising Night/Games)
If the question of how do I get involve strikes a note, please feel to call me anytime and I will assist in putting you in touch with the small subcommittees or groups involved in different tasks around the club.
Finally the season is upon us, early March which will be the start of a very exciting and fore filling time for all parents and players to unite for a common goal of achieving their personal best whilst playing for a fantastic club.
All the best for the 2012 football season.
Regards
Ashley Thomas
